California Chafee ETV eBus

(n): A unique opportunity to bring educational resources with technology to foster youth.

What is the California Chafee ETV eBus?
The Chafee ETV eBus is a mobile outreach program for all ETV eligible foster youth.  The eBus is a 40 ft retrofitted mobile computer lab, equipped with two-way Internet connectivity via satellite. Its purpose is to increase awareness of the Chafee ETV Grant and provide educational, financial, and community resources to the youth in a more personalized format.

How can a youth get on board?
Contact the eBus coordinator to request an event at a college near you! Workshops will be held at college campuses throughout California where youth can take tours and receive specialized information for foster youth from college and local resource contacts.

What does the eBus provide?

  • 3 hour workshop includes guest speakers (academic & financial aid advisors)
  • Information about the Electronic Training Voucher (ETV) funding and educational opportunities specific for foster youth, ages 16-21
  • Youth will have the opportunity to use any one of the 13 workstations on board to apply on-line for grants, colleges, vocational schools, FAFSA and more!
  • Each youth will also walk away with their own resource bag that includes all material covered in the workshop and additional tools such as community resource info, bookmarkers and more.
