Traveling from the Gulf Coast to the Mason-Dixon Line, the BB&T Homeownership Mobile (eBus) is bringing the American Dream straight to the doorsteps of local communities – going to where they work, where they play and where they worship!
BB&T Bank, Freddie Mac and The Community College Foundation have formed an innovative partnership to dismantle misperceptions about the home buying process. Through this effort, thousands of individuals in low-to-moderate income communities across the country will gain access to homeownership education and credit counseling that will prepare them for the responsibilities of owning a home and becoming financially literate.
Individuals who come aboard the 40-foot city bus—retrofitted mobile technology lab are able to access satellite Internet at each of the 10-computer workstations. Online tools and personalized services are available in both English and Spanish.
On board, individuals benefit from:
BB&T Homeownership Mobile events collaborate with local providers to offer an array of services aboard the eBus. Partners include local housing and credit counselors, city housing departments, faith-based organizations, other community-based organizations, and government funded agencies.
Beginning August 2005, the eBus will travel to cities in North Carolina, Metro-Washington DC, Central Virginia, West Virginia, Kentucky, South Carolina and Florida. Event details, dates and times are available at www.communityconnect.org (click Bus Event Calendar, then select BB&T Homeownership Mobile).
