Wells Fargo eBus - Los Angeles

Through the generosity of Wells Fargo and its commitment to providing universal Internet access to California communities, Wells Fargo partnered with The Community College Foundation to launch the Wells Fargo Los Angeles eBus – a mobile technology lab equipped with multimedia computers and high speed satellite Internet access.

Offerings of the Los Angeles eBus spanned from the provision of basic computer training to alternative high school life skill workshops. The Wells Fargo eBus teamed up with a variety of community partner organizations such as schools and after school programs serving low income communities; housing organizations; senior groups; foster youth organizations; organizations serving Spanish speakers and adult learning classes.

On board, individuals took advantage of various educational modules, provided in English and Spanish, which included:

Council President Alex Padilla, a representative pf the northeast San Fernando Valley, has been a leading advocate for bridging the digital divide. According to Padilla, “This program administered by the Community College Foundation not only has an impact today, but helps bring computer literacy to future generations throughout the region. The eBus program is an example of the type of public-private partnership that truly brings positive results to communities in need.”

Over 27,000 individuals benefited from the training and service onboard the Wells Fargo Los Angeles eBus.

We would like to extend our sincere appreciation to Wells Fargo for allowing the eBus Program to deliver technology and educational resources to the underserved communities of Los Angeles from 1999 – 2005.
