Chase Home Finance, Freddie Mac and The Community College Foundation formed an innovative partnership in May 2004 to dismantle misperceptions about the home buying process. Through this effort, thousands of people in the state of California desiring to participate in the “American Dream” gained access to information, homeownership education, credit counseling and other services designed to prepare them for the responsibilities of owning a home.
Individuals who came aboard the eBus accessed satellite Internet at each of the 12 computer workstations, online tools and personalized services in both English and Spanish—that linked to information on the importance of good credit, financial literacy, mortgage programs and how and where to buy a home.
On board, individuals received:
Access to online tools such as financial literacy tutorials, mortgage calculators, and online banking training
Free credit reports
Access to Chase banking and mortgage services
Chase Homeownership Mobile events partnered with local providers to offer an array of services aboard the eBus. Partners included local housing and credit counselors, real estate professionals, city housing departments, faith-based organizations and other community based organizations.
The eBus visited communities in the Bay Area, Northern and Southern California – at which time, the Chase Homeownership Mobile helped more than 2,700 individuals achieve financial literacy and provided homebuyer counseling to over 10,000 people!
We would like to extend our sincere appreciation to Chase Home Finance and Freddie Mac for allowing the eBus Program to deliver homeownership education to underserved communities throughout California from May 2004 – November 2004.
